A review of St Winefride's & St Richard's Catholic Primary School by John Carmel Murphy written on Thursday 12th of November 2015
I lived at 65 Merton Rd from 1957 to 1971. I went to St Winefride's Infants from
1962-1964 then the Junior Boys from 1964-1968. The infants was in Church View over Coffee House Bridge and the juniors at the corner of Pembroke Rd and Merton Rd. I remember there being over 40 in a class. Miss Jones was head at the infants and Mr Moss head at the juniors. Apart from 1 football team photo I don't have any record of any class photos and yet even after all these years I can still rattle off 30+ surnames from my own year group.
O'Rourke. Mulholland, Hart, McKeown, Murtagh, O'Donnel, Clare, Hand, Bunclark, Cavanagh, McLoughlin, Walsh, Dunlop, Spratt, Hayden, Warwick, Hudson, Daulby, Riley, Johnson, Jones, Matthews, Clarke, Cheetham, Keedy, Mooney, McGuire, O'Connor x 2, Lawson, Finnegan, Edwards, Wilson, Woods, Owen, Holden, Deneef, Feeney. (someone called Edmund.)
According to current websites the head is called Mr Dolan - any relation to Brian Dolan?
John Carmel Murphy.
